An independent pottery business based in Pontllanfraith has been awarded funding from Caerphilly County Borough Council to buy essential equipment.

‘Ave A Go Ceramics has been given a Business Development Grant from Caerphilly County Borough to buy a new kiln.

The company was established in 2006 by Matthew Jones with support from a business start-up grant provided by the council and UK Steel Enterprise and has gone from strength-to-strength.

The business offers a range of workshops and classes in ceramics, pottery and art as well as producing a range of individually made pottery including cups, bowls, plates and tapas oven dishes using terracotta, stoneware and porcelain.

Mr Jones said: “Thank you to Caerphilly County Borough Council for securing the funding to allow my business to purchase a new kiln. The new equipment will enable me to produce higher quantities and a better quality product.”

Cllr Ken James, Cabinet Member for Regeneration said: “I am delighted that funding given by Caerphilly County Borough Council has allowed another local business to purchase equipment.
“This new kiln will enable ‘Ave A Go Ceramics to develop their business even further.

“I wish Matthew the very best of luck in the future”.
