Three youngsters from Caerphilly have been selected among 100 of the best young ballet dancers in South Wales to perform in a new production of Sleeping Beauty.

Eleri Anderson, 12, Ethan Bone, 12, and Lola Parfitt, 11, auditioned alongside 250 other hopefuls to play the supporting cast, and will be appearing in the English Youth Ballet production at the New Theatre, Cardiff, on Friday August 12 and Saturday August 13.

Eleri and Ethan both attend St Cenydd Comprehensive School, while Lola attends Hendredenny Park Primary School.

Both girls dance at Miriam Riseborough School of Ballet, in Bedwas. Ethan attends Janet Stephens School of Theatre Dance, Blackwood.

Julianne Rice-Oxley, Ballet Mistress at English Youth Ballet, said: “The young dancers are treated like professional dancers during rehearsals – we work them hard but the results are fantastic.

“They learn what the life of a professional dancer is like. They are living their dream and they just love it.”
