Caerphilly RFC put the seal on a new sponsorship deal with an emphatic 65-8 victory over Blackwood Stars on Saturday September 10.
Local insurance brokers Constructaquote.com have secured a three-year sponsorship deal with Caerphilly RFC, which will see the Division 3 East A side’s ground Virginia Park renamed to The Constructaquote.com Stadium.
The deal, which is a result of six months’ negotiation, will see Caerphilly receive £30,000 over three years for the naming rights to the ground. The money will be invested into the club and its facilities, with the aim of encouraging and uncovering the next generation of rugby players.
Caerphilly club chairman, Alex James, said: “This is a landmark day for Caerphilly RFC and lower league community rugby. We are indebted to Lyndon Wood and his team for the commitment to this partnership, which makes commercial sense for both parties.”
He added: “I think from the club’s point of view it’s a fantastic opportunity to work with one of the biggest businesses in the area. We both want to put something back into the community, and I think it’s a cracking opportunity for both parties to work together so sport continues in the area.
“The money that we’re receiving from the naming rights will hopefully help us improve the ground, and make the facilities better for the youngsters who are coming to the club.”
Lyndon Wood, founder and CEO of Constructaquote.com, said: “We have been based in Caerphilly for over 25 years. Sponsoring and supporting our local community with much needed facilities is an important part of our social responsibility.
“To be able to commit to Caerphilly RFC and rename the stadium makes us proud and very excited to be part of the club’s future.”
Mr James added: “I think when we spoke at the start of the season, with [head coach] Brett Davey coming on board, we set our stall out then to be honest. Our ambition this year is to get promoted.”
Caerphilly bounced back from a disappointing opening day loss to Chepstow with a nine-try thrashing of visitors Blackwood Stars at the first home fixture of the season.
