Police are appealing for information after two people were taken to hospital following a road accident in Oakdale.

Officers reported to a crash between a red Vauxhall Corsa and a taxi near Chartist Bridge, Oakdale, at around 9am on Monday October 17.

The Corsa was travelling on the wrong side of the road, heading in the direction of Blackwood, when it collided head-on with the taxi.

The driver of the Corsa and passenger in the taxi were taken to hospital after paramedics arrived at the scene. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Several roads around the area of the crash remained closed for two hours, including Chartist Bridge to Waterloo Road, Rhiw Syr Dafydd Hill and Old Coal Avenue.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident can call Gwent Police on 101, quoting log 82 17/10/16.
