Ahead of fireworks night, a fire crew from Aberbargoed will be visiting Sainsbury’s Pontllanfraith offering safety advice.

On Saturday October 22, crew members from Aberbargoed Blue Watch will be in-store between 10.30am and 2.30pm, handing out leaflets and providing tips to help people stay safe around fireworks.

Jon Samuel from Aberbargoed Blue Watch said: “Whether it’s attending a public firework display or holding a private display, we want everyone to have a safe, enjoyable and memorable experience.

“We know that fireworks can be dangerous and that’s why we’re visiting Sainsbury’s Pontllanfraith to ensure the public can speak to us about any worries they have. We’re really looking forward to spreading the firework safety message at Sainsbury’s Pontllanfraith on the day.”

Store Manager Alyn Davies said: “As a store which sells fireworks, it’s really important that we act as a responsible retailer and make sure that our customers can take away some safety tips when using fireworks.

“That’s why we’re delighted to be partnering with Aberbargoed Blue Watch this firework season and we hope our customers will take away some great advice when the fire-crew visits the store”.

The sale to the public of these dangerous explosives should be banned, they most certainly should not be for sale this early and there should not be any offers made to encourage the public to buy more, fireworks damage the environment, are a nuisance, frighten wildlife and animals, and cause needless injuries every year. They should be restricted to licenced displays only.
