Gwent Police has imposed a seven-hour dispersal order in the Castle Maen and Castle View areas of Caerphilly tomorrow in an attempt to tackle anti-social behaviour in the area on Bonfire Night.

Starting at 5pm tomorrow, Saturday November 5, and lasting until midnight, the dispersal order covers Castle Maen around Druids Close, Black Prince Road, Drum Tower View, Knights Walk, Skomer Island Way, and all public spaces and thoroughfares within the boundary.

The Castle View area is also covered, including Ffordd Traws Cwm, Heol Y Berth, Heol Ysgubor, Rowland Drive, Cae Uwchllyn, Clos Gwastir, Clos Ysbyty, Heol Y Ysbyty. Clos Dwyerw, Herons Way, Ware Road, Castle View Shops/Car Park, Cae Mellion, Clos Enfys, Clos Y Pant, Heol Waun Fawr, Heol Yns Ddu, Dan Yr Ardd and all public spaces and thoroughfares contained within the boundary.

The restrictions are pictured above.

Officers will be patrolling the area, and have the authority to direct anyone behaving anti-socially away from the area.

If anyone returns to the area after being moved on, they face being arrested.

This year’s Bonfire Night fireworks display at Caerphilly Castle starts at 7pm on Saturday.

Local Inspector Andy O’Keefe said: “This dispersal order has been put in place following reports of anti-social behaviour in the area where the actions of a small minority are causing alarm and distress to local residents. Officers will be on regular patrol in the areas affected to enforce the Dispersal Order and to prevent incidents of anti-social behaviour.”

Residents can report any anti-social activity to 101. In the event of an emergency, always call 999.
