Caerphilly woman dies in car crash near Markham

Police are appealing for information after a fatal crash between two cars in Markham.

The incident involved a silver Vauxhall Astra and a white Volkswagen Polo on the A4048, near Markham.

A 67-year-old woman from Caerphilly – who was driving the Vauxhall – was pronounced dead when officers arrived at the scene of the crash at around 3.50pm on Wednesday December 14.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 20-year-old man from Crosskeys, was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport with minor injuries, while his passenger, a 55-year-old man also from Crosskeys, was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff with serious injuries. His condition is now described as stable.
