Recycling figures increased during Christmas week, it has been announced, after more than 140 tonnes of recycling was collected across Caerphilly County Borough.
Food waste recycling rose by 10%, while brown bin materials were up by 40% in the week following Christmas Day.
The local authority exceeded its recycling target – set by the Welsh Government – by 4% for 2015/16, and residents have been praised for playing their part.
Cabinet Member for Community and Leisure Services, Cllr Nigel George said: “It is a key priority for us to increase the rates of recycling within the county.
“We aim to make recycling as easy as possible for residents and provide a wealth of information and advice on our website, in addition to doorstep campaigns, leaflet drops and videos.
“We had a fantastic response from residents over the Christmas period and long may that continue during 2017.”
