A 78-year-old Caerphilly man who died in a car crash in Rhondda Cynon Taf has been described as a “loveable local character who never missed an opportunity” by his family.

Dilwyn Williams died in a crash on the A4058 Trehafod by-pass near Hopkinstown, near Pontypridd, on Tuesday, January 24.

Mr Williams died when the silver Skoda Octavia he had been driving southbound along the by-pass was in a collision with a Ford Fiesta, and then a Peugeot RCZ. Both the Fiesta and Peugeot had been travelling on the northbound carriageway.

The two women who were driving the other cars were taken to hospital.

South Wales Police said at the time their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
