More than 100 former students of a comprehensive school in Ystrad Mynach have signed up to inspire current-day students to success.
Lewis Girls’ School in Ystrad Mynach is one of 400 secondary schools and colleges across the UK registered with the national education charity, Future First.
Future First aims to harness the experiences of former students to motivate future generations, allowing schools to be supported by a thriving alumni community.
Volunteering alumni come from a range of careers including education, law, and aeronautics, but the school is actively seeking more former students to get in touch, regardless of profession or where they live.
Elizabeth Phillips, assistant headteacher at Lewis Girls’ School said: “One of our alumna, Jayne Morris, recently talked to sixth-formers about her career in civil engineering.
“We look forward to future opportunities where current students of Lewis Girls’ School can benefit from the experience of former students in a variety of careers which will be so valuable in broadening their jobs horizons and equipping them for the world of work.”
