Elderly woman conned by bogus police telephone call

News | | Published: 14:36, Wednesday February 22nd, 2017.

A woman in her 80s was conned into handing over money after a telephone call from a bogus police officer.

The woman, from Caerphilly, received a call on Tuesday, February 14, from someone claiming to be the police. The caller asked the lady to leave money in an envelope outside her address.

The woman did this and the envelope was collected by a man described as being in his late 20s, of medium build, around 5ft 9in tall with brown curly hair. He was wearing a grey, hooded top.

Gwent Police, which has not disclosed the amount of money which was left, is asking members of the public to be vigilant at all times and to look out for the elderly relatives, friends and neighbours.

Another despicable act on an elderly and vulnerable person by a low life individual with no conscience !

Totally agree with you John. It seems that this has become an accepted way of life now for our society.
