A group of parents from Fochriw have seen their artwork go on display at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
The group, collectively known as Spinning Yarns – Weaving Communities from Fochriw, created their artwork as part of the gallery’s exhibition “in response to Picasso”. The artwork is a collection of self-portraits using fabrics.
One member of the group, which is part of the The Parent Network, said: “When we were going up in the bus, I did feel quite nervous about it – but having done the event, I felt very proud.”
The project was funded by The Health Lottery, Families First, Communities First and Flying Start, with support by Head4Arts.
