Falklands war veteran and charity campaigner Simon Weston will address members and guests of Caerphilly Business Forum at Coleg y Cymoedd, Nantgarw Campus, on Tuesday, May 9.
The special event forms the first in a new series of business events and seminars run by Caerphilly Business Forum throughout 2017/18, and it takes place four weeks short of the 35th anniversary of the attack that transformed Mr Weston’s life forever.
On June 8, 1982, the Welsh Guard from Nelson was aboard the Sir Galahad when it was attacked and bombed by three Argentine Skyhawk fighters.
The attack claimed the lives of 48 British soldiers and crewmen, including 22 out of the 30 soldiers in Mr Weston’s platoon and left him with 46% burns.
Despite being told he was “on the scrapheap” at 25, Mr Weston is now a successful motivational speaker and was awarded a CBE in 2016 for his charitable work.

“We are truly honoured that Simon has decided to not only take time out of his busy schedule to address the forum, but that he is doing so at such an emotive and sensitive time for him.
“It is tragic that he suffered such horrific burns just six days before the conflict ended. However, his achievements since then and the enormous challenges he has had to overcome both in his personal and business life are nothing short of incredible.
