A call for volunteer inspectors has been made to help police maintain its custody standards.
Following a number of retirements, Gwent Police and Crime Commissioner Jeff Cuthbert is looking for people to become Independent Custody Visitors, to ensure the fair treatment of those arrested.
Animal Welfare Visitors are also needed to make sure officers are treating police dogs well.
Full training will be provided for both roles.
Mr Cuthbert, said: “Our scheme volunteers play a vital role in raising our standards and ensuring that we treat everyone with fairness and respect. I would encourage anyone with an interest to come forward and apply.”
Volunteers on both schemes will receive initial training once appointed as well as regular training in-house.
Travel expenses are covered by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.
For more information visit www.gwent.pcc.police.uk or call 01633 642 200.
Application forms should be submitted by post or email no later than 4pm on Friday, June 2.
Why are volunteers doing this job, this should be a paid police job not down to volunteers. When will people learn leave policing to the police and not to civillians, pscos or wardens. Policing is a pc job
Why do we only see these gimmicks from the Police ?
None of the other emergency services ( Fire & Ambulance ) use these gimmicks.
