Fire crews tackle Abertridwr mountain blaze for over four hours

News | | Published: 10:20, Wednesday May 10th, 2017.

Firefighters spent more than four hours battling a fire on Abertridwr mountain yesterday.

Four South Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Caerphilly, Pontypridd and Whitchurch attended the blaze on the mountainside behind the St Annes Gardens estate, after they were called at around 3.49pm on Tuesday May 9.

After tackling the blaze on two fronts for more than four hours using beaters and hoses, the fire was brought under control at around 7.57pm.

A South Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson confirmed that the nearby properties were not at risk.
