Residents warned after latest council tax scam

News | | Published: 10:40, Tuesday May 16th, 2017.

Residents have been warned to remain vigilant against a new council tax telephone scam.

Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Trading Standards team were contacted by a member of the public after receiving a phone call from a surveying company claiming their council tax band was too high.

The caller stated that for an upfront fee of £120, they would be able to get it reduced for the resident.

Residents with any queries about their council tax banding should contact the council directly for information on 01443 863 002 or by emailing counciltax@caerphilly.gov.uk

To report an issue to Caerphilly’s Trading Standards team, call 01443 811300 or visit www.caerphilly.gov.uk/tradingstandards.

When did the council became the police? Surely this is a matter for the police not trading standards. Policing is so poor these days compared to my grandfathers days when he was in
