UPDATE 14:45
Gwent Police have confirmed that a suspicious package was found at the station, not a wartime bomb as widely reported.

A spokesperson said: “At 12.29 today we received reports that a holdall had been left unsupervised at Caerphilly Bus Station.

“The bag was searched and did not contain anything suspicious.”

The station had previously been evacuated by police while a police dog handler attended.

Rail and bus services have resumed, but delays are expected due to the closure.

————————————————————————
A wartime bomb has been found near the railway station in Caerphilly town.

The station had been cordoned off from the public while the device was made safe.

National Rail says that services to and from Caerphilly have resumed, but travellers should expect a 15-minute delay.
