A further 75 people in court over crash for cash scam

News | | Published: 13:00, Thursday May 25th, 2017.

Seventy-five people have appeared in court charged in connection with an alleged insurance scam.

The appearances relate to the second phase of Gwent Police’s Operation Dino – which investigated fraudulent insurance claims being submitted after vehicles were deliberately crashed to make them look like they had been in legitimate accidents.

Appearing at Cwmbran Magitrates’ Court on Monday, May 22, the defendants, the majority of whom are from Caerphilly County Borough, are accused of conspiring with others to defraud insurance companies.

The charges allege motor vehicles were taken to a garage known as St David’s Accident Repair Centre or Easifix, and to another garage known by various names including P&S Autos, Sean’s Recovery or Albion Garage. They also allege that vehicles were taken to garages known as Duffryn Crash Repair and CARS.
