celebrate 15 years in business

An IT company has celebrated its anniversary marking 15 years in business.

Excellence IT, based on Caerphilly Business Park, started life when former Hewlett-Packard employees Andy Beer and Andy Green realised they were doing more than their job description of ‘IT consultant.’

Starting life in Cardiff, before moving to Bedwas in 2008, the company moved to its current premises 12 months ago to accommodate its growth.

Over the last five years its annual turnover has increased by 50% to £1.25 million and the firm now employs 17 staff.

Mr Beer said: “The move to our new base has given us a bigger office space where we have developed a fully-networked operations centre.

“It has given us further scope to grow.”

A key growth area for the firm, which offers a range of IT services, has been its training arm.

Operations manager Anne Beer said: “Our training offer has really taken off.

“We focus on what businesses want. They come to us with specific problems they have got and we develop training courses for them.

“On a traditional Microsoft Excel course you might learn a lot, but you might only use 30% of it in your job.

“We’ll do something that’s specific to a company which means a greater return on investment.”

Mr Green said: “It is a huge success story – it really is. It says a lot about our customer base and the relationships that we have built.

“Our staff over the years have been instrumental in that success and without a great team we wouldn’t be here today.”
