Caerphilly-based credit referencing company Creditsafe has reported turnover of £35.5 million for 2016.

Officially registered as Creditsafe Business Solutions, the company, based at Caerphilly Business Park, sells business data for credit check purposes and other uses.

The company is part of the wider Creditsafe Group which has 18 offices across Europe and America.

Recently-filed accounts at Companies House show Creditsafe grew its turnover to £35.5m in the year ending December 31, 2016 – an increase on the £31.8m in 2015.

Pre-tax profit also increased to £8.1m in 2016 from £7.1m the year before.

Chris Robertson, global sales director at Creditsafe Group, said: “Twenty-sixteen was another strong year for Creditsafe UK, the business saw a 12% growth in revenue while continuing to operate a healthy pre-tax profit, which has increased on the previous year.

“The big development during the year was launching our new lead management tool, Sales Joe which enables businesses to build effective sales campaigns using company information gathered from Creditsafe’s extensive database.

“We also set up operations in Japan and Norway, which saw us extend our global database to offer UK businesses information publicly traded and privately-held Japanese and Norwegian companies.

“Our positive results have been fuelled by strong customer retention, an increase in new business and a further expansion and strengthening in our international offering to UK customers.”

Mr Robertson added: “More growth is expected in 2017, our 20th anniversary year.

“The growing sales force and the new products and technology being introduced this year will ensure our momentum continues and we further set ourselves apart from our competitors.”

The CreditSafe group was launched in Norway in 1997 and has 18 offices across 12 countries including the UK, Germany, France, Sweden, Ireland, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and the USA. Globally it employs around 1,500 staff and has around 200,000 registered subscribers.

During 2016 the company added 18 countries across Europe and Asia to its global system, including Afghanistan, Belarus, Cambodia, Iceland, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. It also added 40 million Chinese companies to its platform.

Its Sales Joe platform is targeted at small and medium businesses providing them access to key information they can use to generate more sales leads.
