Police have stepped up patrols after several reports of children being followed by vans while walking.
The latest incident happened yesterday, Tuesday September 19, and follows two similar reports from the previous week, leading to an increase in patrols by Gwent Police officers.
At around 3.25pm, a 12-year-old girl was walking home from school on Pontygwindy Road, Caerphilly, when she was stopped by two men in a white van and offered a lift.
The two men were described as black, and the driver is said to have a beard.
Anyone with information can call 101 quoting log 318 19/9/17.
Previously, police had been contacted by the parent of a boy who was followed by two men in a van in Risca.
At around 9pm on Friday, September 8, the blue transit van – which had no registration plates – drove away from Risca Leisure Centre car park, before turning around and returning.
Meanwhile, at around 8.30am on Thursday, September 14, an 11-year-old girl was walking along Meadow Way, towards Coopers Place, in Caerphilly when a white transit van which had been parked up began to follow her. It eventually drove off in the direction of Coopers Place.
Anyone with information can call Gwent Police on 101 quoting log 80 14/9/17, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
£12 billion in foreign aid every year. Just remember that fact.
That would give us tens of thousands of police officers to patrol our streets.
Or a few destroyers to patrol our seas.
The problem with the foreign aid budget is that it has been set by the useless Tory government as a percentage of GDP. I am actually in favour of foreign aid, so long as it goes to people who are suffering from natural, or manmade, disaster. Particularly if the people are connected with Great Britain in some way, former colonies and soforth. What we have now is a bunch of civil servants instructed to send a massive sum of money abroad every year regardless of need or connection to Britain.
Thus a large portion goes straight into the hands of warlords and politicians of various countries. The needy do not benefit and we suffer in this country as budgets for essential services are reduced.
The fact that we borrow money in order to give it away cancels out any other factors.
I agree with much of what you say but I do not think one penny should be spent on foreign aid until the budget is balanced.
Hearty agree Pete, we give way too much money in foreign aid. Let’s sort our back yard out first before we help other countries. We have so many problems in our country that needs our attention. From the police to our health workers and elderly. Let’s help our own people first. As Donald Trump said to the UN lets put our country first for a change and make your country great. All governments are responsible for this not just the conservatives. We need a radical leader like Trump to sake things up and put Britain first for a change. If comrade Corbin gets into power we will be in a load of trouble
Yes. There are loads of good things to spend money on this country. Unfortunately the biggest one is our national debt.
That’s true, we borrow to give away, perhaps discontinue foreign aid until we have a surplus once more. I would vote for that.
I agree Pete, we are also wasting money on these community officers with the police and these council warden types. Its about time we stopped wasting money on these gimmicks and employed proper police constables to patrol our streets. These CPO’s and council warden have little or no powers and yet we continue to waste money on them. When I was a lad growing up in the 60’s we had a local constable who patrolled our village, he knew everyone and we didn’t half the problems that we have today. We need to go back to the good old days. The CPO’s replaced the constables, and the council wardens replaced the CPOs, now we have no one one out in our towns. We need more police on our streets .
We need a visible police presence of fully trained police officers in all our communities – Gwent are going to spend millions on a new HQ in Llantarnam but we can’t have the officers we need patrolling our communities.
Given the choice between a new HQ or more officers on patrol I know which I’d rather have !
I am going to start sounding like a broken record, I know it. However until we stop voting for politicians and that means anyone standing under the Labour, Conservative, LibDem or Plaid banners nothing will ever change. I am convinced that party politics is the root of most of our problems and yes you can poke fun out of old UKIP as well.
I has shocked to hear about these incidents but then when was the last time I saw a proper copper on the bear? Beats me! I want these sods caught and dealt with and our children to feel safe anywhere and everywhere. I have friends who became Police Officers 30 years ago who reckon they would not have passed the selection process today. If we need more money for proper police officers, just Abolish the Assembly! That will save a packet.
