A Caerphilly television star has signed up to the challenge of a lifetime to raise money to help cancer patients.

Leona Vaughan, 22, will spend ten days trekking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru in October 2018, and is aiming to help raise £60,000 for Tenovus Cancer Care.

Before starring in the Sky One series Stella and CBBC programme Wolfblood, Leona volunteered at the Tenovus charity shop in Caerphilly town.

She said: “I’m so excited to be part of Team Tenovus Cancer Care for Machu Picchu 2018. I’ll be raising money and awareness for the charity with my beautiful grandparents in mind, who sadly lost both of their battles with cancer in 2013 and 2014.

“I hope to inspire other people to do amazing events like this for charity, and of course raise lots of money for Tenovus Cancer Care.”

Mhairi Jones, Challenge Events Manager for Tenovus added: “What Leona is doing for us is really incredible. We’re so grateful to her for taking on this monumental challenge and really can’t thank her enough.”
