A man from Pontlottyn has been jailed after threatening a group of youths with an air rifle earlier this year.

Robert Gwynne, of Merchant Street, Pontlottyn, was handed an 18-month prison sentence at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday, October 6, for possessing a weapon with intent to cause violence.

An armed police response unit was called on Monday, March 20, to reports of a man wielding an air rifle, and eyewitnesses claimed a group of teenagers had verbally abused him in the street.

The court heard how Gwynne and his housemate fell out, leading to the latter alleging that he had walked in on Gwynne having sex with his dog, telling members of the public in a nearby shop.

As a result, a brick was thrown through Gwynne’s window and teenagers shouted abuse at his house, the court was told.

Gwynne aimed the unloaded rifle at the youths, before standing in the window with a crossbow.
