Oakdale Community Centre has been fitted with new modern LED lighting.

Money from the Oakdale Community Benefit Fund, established when two wind turbines were built at Oakdale Business Park, has paid for the upgrading of the centre’s 23-year-old suspended ceiling and strip lights in its lower hall.

The new lights mean lower electricity bills and will allow the hall to keep its hire charges the same.

Cllr Sean Morgan, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member responsible for Regeneration and Sustainable Development, said: “It is fantastic that the Community Centre Committee have been proactive in successfully gaining a second grant to make improvements to the facility.

“The Community Benefit Fund is making great strides to reduce the area’s carbon footprint by providing grants to local community groups and clubs.”
