Islwyn MP Chris Evans has celebrated the skills and talent of artists at an award ceremony and exhibition at Argoed Baptist Chapel.
The exhibition, held by the Mid Valleys East Art Society, showcased and awarded artists of all ages from the surrounding areas.
Exhibitors submitted a wide range of pieces, and artists had been challenged to produce the artwork for Mr Evans’ 2017 Christmas card.
The MP – who has recently released a book on the life of British boxing icon Freddie Mills – and Argoed councillor Walter Williams decided on a snowy Parliamentary scene painted by resident Wendy Frowen.
Mr Evans said: “I regularly attend exhibitions hosted by the Art Society and I am always stunned by the high quality of the artworks. It goes to show the Valleys are full of hidden artistic talent.
“I would like give special thanks to everyone who took part in the Christmas card competition. Every entry was fantastic but Wendy’s piece really stood out and I am looking forward to seeing it in print.
“I would also like to congratulate everyone who won an award and I look forward to attending again.”
