A police raid on a Caerphilly town property today has been confirmed as part of wider operation targeted at organised crime.

The end terrace house on St Fagans Street, Caerphilly, was raided by officers this morning, Wednesday, November 29, from South Wales Police and Gwent Police.

Eyewitnesses reported that “large plants” were taken from the property in bags. Police have yet to confirm if they were cannabis plants.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: “Warrants have been executed at a number of addresses throughout south and west Wales this morning as part of an investigation into organised crime across the region.

“The multi-agency operation, led by South Wales Police’s Force Intelligence and Organised Crime Unit, targeted addresses in Cardiff, Aberdare, Llanelli, Caerphilly and Swansea.

“The investigation is ongoing and further details will be released when appropriate.”

I thought Caerphilly now come under Gwent constabulary not South Wales constabulary. I would like to know why they are the lead on this.
