A 17-year-old girl had rubbish thrown at her and was subjected to verbal abuse at a bus stop in Caerphilly town centre.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the assault which happened at the bus stop on Cardiff Road opposite Sports Direct at 5pm on Wednesday, November 15.
A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: “We would like to speak to the man shown in the photograph as we believe he may be able to assist us in our enquiry.
“If anyone witnessed the assault or has any information please call 101 quoting log 415 15/11/17 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
Yet again we have another appeal for information about a crime, where are our police constables on the street? In a news paper article 44% of people surveyed have not seen a constable on the street!! Disgusting here in Gwent we got basically a three tier police and we dont see any of them, total waste of money. In another article out of 41,063 crimes reported in Gwent 18,475 of those have no suspect. This is totally unacceptable what are we paying our council tax for and we on earth are we paying for those council warden people. I would also like to know why it took so long for this appeal to come out. Gwent police are failing us, the council wardens have failed us.
I agree 100%
We are paying for services that we are just not receiving.
With an increase in council tax for 2018 both organisations need to be put under extreme scrutiny.
As we see no visible patrol presence from the Neighbourhood Policing team we must ask the question – what are they doing ?
As for the council wardens they should be scrapped – they were supposed to play a supporting role to the police and if the police are not patrolling then there is no role for these wardens who have become a very expensive commodity.
They have virtually no power and are basically civilians patrolling in a uniform !
I couldnt agree more John, I just feel sorry for the victim who the police seem to be letting down constantly. Things need to change with both organisations. Otherwise victims will be victims again this time through their failings to investagate crimes. The wardens are a joke as far as i can see they are not worth the money we as tax payers are spending on them.
All we get from the Government;the police and the councils is hype and rhetoric – none of this solves any of the problems.
What we want and need are fully trained police officers visibly patrolling our streets.
We pay a precept in our council tax for the police service and at present the service is abysmal.
