Thousands of pounds worth of cigarettes were stolen by thieves during an early morning raid on a Caerphilly supermarket.
Tesco, on the Crossways Retail Park, was broken into on Monday, January 8.
Thieves managed to get in through a fire exit door at the back of the building. It is understood that £10,000 worth of cigarettes were stolen.
A Gwent Police spokeswomen said: “At around 4.30am, staff found a back door to the building open which had been left insecure. Officers attended and found the cigarette locker open and stock had been taken. No other items appear to have been stolen. Enquiries are ongoing into this.”
Anyone with information can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Crime is on the increase – we need Bobbies Back On the Beat !
Thieves can travel with impunity – routine police patrols could stop and check vehicles and occupants.
When I was younger growing up in Caerphilly if you were travelling during the early hours you would be often stopped by patrolling police officers.
We need to return to this style of policing.
I agree John nowadays we have individuals prentending to be the police. From CPOs to those council warden types theses individuals are overpaid and useless when any crimes occur, i have said many times that we need constables on our streets to stop any crime occurring. I know the police has had budget cuts but we are spending this tight budget on useless individuals prentending to be constables. So let’s spend this money on the real police.
obviously an inside job lol. is it a pure coincidence that particular door was left insecure and the thieves knew where to go
No, the door was ” insecure” because the theives broke through it.
Are you sure?
