Two men were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, after they were searched by police in Ponlottyn.
Gwent Police officers, executing a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, had originally raided a property on Brynhyfryd at around 2pm on Thursday, January 18, and also had permission to search a silver 2007 registration Ford Ka.
Nothing was seized during the search at the property and the car was not there either. As officers were driving away empty-handed along Farm Road in Pontlottyn, they spotted the car parked up in a lay-by.
Two men in the car, a 34-year-old from Pontlottyn and a 36-year-old from Rhymney, were searched and Class A drugs were seized.
The two have been interviewed and released under investigation.
Sergeant Carl Morgan said: “We are dedicated to tackling illegal drugs in the Caerphilly area so our communities are a safer place to live.
“We’d like to encourage our communities to continue to work with us to tackle the supply of illegal drugs in our area by calling us in confidence on 101, 999 in an emergency or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
This just goes to prove that if Police Officers were patrolling communities regularly – they would come across opportunities like this more often ( a lot of police work is down to just being in the right place at the right time ).
