Wayne David, Labour MP for Caerphilly, has said he is “pleased” that President Trump has decided not to come to Britain for the opening of the new American Embassy.
While President Trump has been invited to the UK by the Prime Minister, Mr David hopes the President will recognise that he will not receive “a warm welcome” in Britain and therefore not come to the UK.
Wayne David said: “President Trump’s attitudes, prejudices and comments are unacceptable to most British people. To turn a blind eye and welcome him to Britain would be giving Trump a respect he does not deserve.
“Racism, bigotry, sexism and intolerance are just some of the things of which Trump is guilty. I therefore hope that he will not set foot on British soil.”
Personally I cuould not care less whether Trump does not visit Britain or decides to come here a dozen times. I believe that is also the view of “most British people.”
That is just conecture on my part but what is a fact is that most British people voted to leave the EU. I hope Wayne starts putting some energy into achieving that objective and forgets about President Trump, the Americans elected him and choosing their president is their business, not ours.
After the racist things Wayne David has said compared to Trump’s demonstrated history of promoting racial harmony maybe Wayne should expel himself from our country?
Racism is endemic in the modern Labour party, in my opinion. I am shocked by the anti Israel outbursts from some Labour politicians and various, well reported, racist comments by Diane Abbot who, unbelievably, maintains a front bench position. Emily Thornberry, really Lady Nugee, who has publicly ridiculed working class individuals but made sure to send her children to a selective school outside her constituency and 14 miles from her home whilst steadfastly campaigning against Grammar schools which offer a good education to children regardless of what their parents do or how wealthy they are. Come to think of it, Abbot did the same.
Labour is not the anti EU, pro working class party it once was. I have many good friends who are labour members and I hope the party can get back on track as, whatever your politics, an organised counter balance to the Conservative party is badly needed. As long as people like Abbot, Thornberry, Chuka Umunna and all the rest of the drones who have never experienced a hard days work in their lives hold positions of influence Labour will not get my vote.
Well said Richard and Ian
