A Crumlin gymnastics club has been praised for its use of social media with members and club coaching staff at a Cardiff awards ceremony.

The Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) awarded Valleys Gymnastics Academy runner-up in the best communications category at its Third Sector Awards Cymru.

The Crumlin-based gymnastic academy was presented the award by BBC news presenter Sian Lloyd at a ceremony held in February in Cardiff.

The academy was praised for its use of social media channels Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, providing quality experiences for its members and attracting new members and participants.

“Valleys Gymnastics Academy is an award-winning social enterprise, and also recently won the Wales Social Enterprise of the Year 2017 (Customer Experience category) on the basis of its growth and sustainability,” said Director Aled Jones.

“Volunteers and coaches are also able to interact and communicate with each other through the social media platforms.

“Feedback from parents has revealed that continuous communication through the club’s social media platforms has enhanced their experiences.

“Due to its prominent social media presence,VGA is regularly referred to as a vibrant, visible, hub of the community,” Mr Jones said.
