Four men have appeared in court accused of dealing cocaine.
Jory Kift, 25, of School Street, in Elliots Town; Callum Lewis, 24, of Alfred Street, Rhymney; Gareth Price, 28, of Queen’s Road, Elliots Town; and Anthony Smith, 36, of Sunny View, Pontlottyn, appeared before Newport Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, May 5.
They each faced a single charge under the Criminal Law Act 1977.
All four were remanded in custody and are due to appear next at Newport Crown Court on June 4.
The men were arrested in a series of police raids carried out in Tredegar, New Tredegar, Abertysswg and Bargoed, on Thursday, May 3.
Gwent Police said more than 50 specialist officers and dog units were involved in the operation, which saw two cars and large amounts of cash seized – believed to be the proceeds of “serious organised crime”.
What is thought to be a quantity of Class A drugs were also seized.
Two women, aged 31 and 29, were also arrested on suspicion of money laundering. They were later released under investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Pope said: “Information received from our communities is vital for warrants like these to be executed successfully.
“Nobody knows their villages and streets better than the communities that live there. If you see something that either seems out of place or in most cases, if something just does not add up, then you can contact us and know it will be dealt with seriously. What may seem like a small detail to you, to Gwent Police, it could be the final piece to a much bigger puzzle.”
The six properties targeted by police in the noon raids on May 3 were in: Vale View, Tredegar; Queens Road, New Tredegar; Schools Street, New Tredegar; Walter Street, Abertysswg; Alfred Street, Abertysswg; Mount Pleasant, Bargoed; and Jubilee Road, New Tredegar.
