Pupils from Lewis Girls Comprehensive School have received an inspirational speech from Army Reservist Lance Sergeant Sophie Montagne.
Montagne was one of the ‘Ice Maidens’ who completed a gruelling trek across Antarctica on January 21, to become the first all female team to ski coast to coast across the continent.
The formidable challenge which took 2 months to complete, covered 1,000 miles in temperatures of -50°C and wind speeds of over 60mph.
Elizabeth Philips, Acting Head Teacher of Lewis Girls Comprehensive School said: “We often invite speakers in to school to raise aspirations and try to motivate students and this presentation from Sophie was one of the most successful yet.
