This year’s Castle to Castle Fun Run in aid of Velindre Cancer Centre will be started by former Wales and British and Irish Lions captain Sam Warburton.
The 11 mile run takes place on Sunday, September 9, starting at Caerphilly Castle before winding its way along the Taff Trail to Cardiff Castle.
Warburton, who retired from professional rugby earlier this summer, is a patron of Velindre.
Over 450 runners have already registered for this year’s event, with only 50 places now remaining.
Race organiser Stuart Buswell said: “We are absolutely overwhelmed by the fantastic response we have had for this year’s Castle to Castle Run.
“Having built on the success of previous years we are privileged to be organising this year’s Velindre Castle to Castle Fun Run which we hope to be bigger and better than last year.”
The run starts at 10am and is marshalled along its entire route, with water stations and bag transfer from Caerphilly to Cardiff.
Andrew Morris, Head of Fundraising at Velindre, said: “There has been a long history of fantastic support from the people of Caerphilly and surrounding areas for Velindre. This run will continue that tradition of raising funds to support cancer patients and their families in Wales.”
The entry fee for the run is £15, which includes an exclusive Castle to Castle medal.
