A firm which develops and manufactures technology to separate and sort different material is expanding its European headquarters in Bedwas.

Eriez Europe, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary in business this year, has opened a new 326 square metre manufacturing extension at its factory on Bedwas House Industrial Estate.

The company, which exports to mainland Europe, Russia, North Africa and the Middle East, has a turnover of around £21 million and wants to grow that to £24m by the end of 2021.

Its products have a wide range of applications across a wide range of sectors. From sorting out different metals in waste streams to filters and metal detectors in food manufacturing, the company exports around 75% of its technology overseas.

To keep up with demand it has invested £350,000 on its extension.

This includes a high-speed balancing machine and a filament winding machine for the intricate manufacture of Eriez’ advanced range of Eddy Current Separators – designed to recover non-ferrous metals from a wide variety of waste streams.

The new facility will increase production capacity of Eddy Current Separator rotors per year by a third.

John Curwen, Managing Director at Eriez Europe, said: “Following continued success of supplying the Eriez Eddy Current Separators into a diverse range of industries, we are excited to be able to significantly expand our capabilities at Eriez Europe and to facilitate further growth, strengthening our market position both locally in the UK and worldwide.

“The ability to supply the rotors globally demonstrates our ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of our customers and offering them the best possible solutions.”

The company employs around 130 highly-skilled staff and has its own apprenticeship scheme to train its next generation of employees.
