Second man charged following Abertridwr rape

Police have charged a second man after a woman was allegedly gang raped in Abertridwr.

Kuchar Mohammed Rahim, 35 and from the Bolton area, appeared at Newport Magistrates’ Court today. He was remanded to appear before the court at a later date.

Hemin Kamal Salimpirik, 32, of High Street, Abertridwr, appeared before Newport Magistrates on Friday, November 30, charged with rape. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Newport Crown Court on January 2.

Gwent Police have also confirmed they have arrested a fifth person in connection with the attack. A 32-year-old man from the Bolton is currently being questioned by detectives.

A 32-year-old woman was raped at a property on High Street, Abertridwr, by several men. The attack is thought to have happened sometime between around 4pm on Saturday, November 24, and 9am Sunday, November 25. On the Sunday, the house where the rape took place had its windows smashed by members of the public.

Two 28-year-old men from the Cardiff area, who were also arrested following the incident, were released pending further investigation.
