Pwllypant roundabout set for more works

A week of improvement works will take place at the Pwllypant roundabout to fix a number of minor issues.

Work is set to take place from Monday, January 28 and the council has said it should take a week to complete.

Traffic management systems will be in place each day between 9.30am and 3pm to minimise disruption.

The roundabout recently underwent a £5 million upgrade, which was completed in November.

Work will be carried out on a manhole on the Bedwas arm of the roundabout, while studs will be added to the pedestrian crossing on the Llanbradach arm, which is expected to take no more than a day to complete.

A Road Safety Audit, which is carried out after the completion of all major highways schemes, is currently taking place on the roundabout.

Attempts will be made to address any further works, which may be identified through this audit, during the week scheduled.

Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Deputy Leader, Cllr Sean Morgan, said: “With a programme the scale of the Pwllypant improvement programme, there were always likely to be a very small number of minor defects that would need to be rectified at a later date. There is certainly no cause for outcry or concern – the works are minor and will be completed during off-peak hours to minimise disruption to residents, businesses and the travelling public.

“We’ve received overwhelmingly positive feedback over the months since the roundabout improvement scheme completion, and while it undoubtedly caused disruption for people during the works, the resulting benefits of the scheme are apparent for all to see.”
