A butcher has thanked his customers for their charitable support after he himself was honoured by the Royal British Legion.
Howard Powell, who runs Howard’s Butchers, in Commercial Street, Risca, was recently presented with a certificate of appreciation for outstanding services to the Risca branch of the legion’s Poppy Appeal.
Last year the shop raised £810.
Mr Powell said: “I’d like to thank all my customers for their support over the years in supporting the Poppy Appeal.”
The butcher’s shop also holds an annual Easter egg appeal. Last year, customers donated around 400 chocolate eggs for children at T? Hafan, Velindre Cancer Centre, and the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport.
