A woman was sexually assaulted while walking alone in Aberbargoed on Friday, March 1.

The woman was approached from behind and assaulted in the lane off Bedwellty road, close to Pant Street at around 7.40pm.

The offender has been described as being in his 30s, around 6ft tall and of skinny build.

He was wearing dark coloured trousers, a dark jacket and black trainers with a distinctive orange sole.

The man is believed to have ran away after the incident, heading towards the Commercial Street area of Aberbargoed.

The woman is now recovering at home and is being supported by specialist officers.

Gwent Police are currently investigating the incident and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Pope, who is leading the investigation, said: “I have a dedicated team of Detectives working on this investigation and we will do everything we can to support the victim and try to identify who is responsible for this.
