A scheme to reduce the use of plastic bottles is to be rolled out across Caerphilly County Borough.
The council has signed up to the national ‘Refill Scheme’ – set up by the not-for-profit City to Sea campaign.
‘Refill Caerphilly’ is set to be launched in the coming weeks throughout the county borough.
Cllr Sean Morgan, the authority’s deputy leader, said: “The majority of Caerphilly County Borough is made up of countryside, which often becomes littered with plastics and other non-biodegradable materials.
“I hope that the Refill Scheme will encourage residents and visitors to re-use bottles whenever possible, which will in turn reduce the amount of single-use plastic being used throughout Caerphilly.”
The Refill Scheme encourages cafes, bars, restaurants, banks and other businesses to put a sticker in their window telling people they are welcome to refill their water bottles.
