New £1.4 million investment agreed for Caerphilly County Borough schools

News | | Published: 15:40, Tuesday March 26th, 2019.

An extra £1.4 million for schools across Caerphilly County Borough has been agreed.

The funding will be rolled out over the next financial year, which begins on Monday, April 1.

The investment was agreed by Caerphilly County Borough Council’s cabinet in a meeting on Wednesday, March 13.

Among the schools who will benefit from the investment is Ystrad Mynach Primary School, which will have an extension built.

Replacement toilets are also planned at Ty Isaf Infants, Ty Sign and Tir-y-Berth Primary Schools.

Meanwhile, new boilers will be installed in six different schools while security will be increased at a number of schools.

Cllr Philippa Marsden, Cabinet Member for Education and Achievement, said: “This investment comes as welcome news for schools and, most importantly, for learners.

The physical environment is vital in helping create a positive learning experience, which ultimately leads to positive outcomes for learners.

“The investment forms part of a three year capital programme, which will see even more schools and pupils in the county borough benefit in the coming years.”
