Man in court over robbery in Ystrad Mynach

A 44-year-old Nelson man has appeared in court charged with robbery, possession of a bladed article, theft, and using or threatening to use unlawful violence.
Karl Hodder, of Lan y Parc, Nelson, appeared before Newport Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, March 19.

He was remanded in custody and will next appear at Newport Crown Court on April 16.

A 40-year-old woman had her handbag taken from the rear of her car on Pengam Road, in Ystrad Mynach, on Sunday, March 17.

Police said the victim followed the offender in her car and was later threatened with what she believed to be a knife.

The woman left the scene shaken but unharmed.

Officers attended the scene and with the help of the police helicopter found and later arrested and charged the suspect.
