Man arrested after drug raids in Pontlottyn and Fochriw

News | Rhys Williams | Published: 16:25, Friday May 3rd, 2019.

Police have arrested a man after drugs raids at addresses in Pontlottyn and Fochriw on Friday, May 3.

Searches were carried out by officers from the Tredegar Criminal Investigation Department under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Class A drugs and cash were seized in the raids, which were part of Gwent Police’s Operation Jigsaw.

A 26-year-old from the Brynhyfryd area of Pontlottyn has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and money laundering.

The man is currently in police custody and an investigation is being carried out.

Detective Sergeant Marc Gardner said: “This morning’s raids are the culmination of work carried out by officers from Tredegar CID in the Caerphilly North area of Gwent to tackle the most serious and organised crime in our communities.

“I’d like to thank our communities once again for their support which is vital for warrants like these be executed successfully and I’d continue to ask local residents to contact us if they are aware of anything which they feel is suspicious.

“If you see something that either seems out of place or in most cases, if something just does not add up then you can contact us and know it will be dealt with seriously.

“What may seem like a small detail to you, to Gwent Police it could be the final piece to a much bigger puzzle.”

He added: “Lastly, we hope that these raids sends a clear message to others involved in the supply of drugs that we will disrupt these most serious crimes in Gwent.”

Anyone with information can contact Gwent Police on 101. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
