News | Rhys Williams | Published: 14:28, Wednesday August 21st, 2019.

Caerphilly Fire Station

Caerphilly Fire Station will be opening its doors to the public on Sunday, August 25 for the first time in a decade.

From 11am to 3pm, people will be able to see behind the scenes and get to know how the fire service operates.

The free event will also give people the chance to see fire engines up close and personal.

There will also be a range of activities, such as games and face painting, as well as a host of demonstrations.

Refreshments will be available at the event, which will be run by South Wales Fire and Rescue Service in partnership with Gwent Police, the British Army and the Welsh Ambulance Service.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service crew manager, Malcolm Covill of Caerphilly Fire Station, said: “It has been some time since we had the opportunity to host a fun family open day at Caerphilly Fire Station and we are excited to have this chance to welcome the local community to the Station to find out more about us and our emergency service colleagues.

“Whether you are interested in joining South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, have a question to ask about any aspect of safety or just want to bring the family down to enjoy a great day out, you can expect a warm welcome.

“All our crews have been busy planning this special event and we look forward to bringing the community together.”

People interested in joining the fire service will be able to hear about recruitment opportunities at the open day.

Caerphilly Fire Station is on Waun Fach Street, near Pontygwindy Road.
