Caerphilly-based software company Awen Collective has received funding from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to work on an industrial cyber security project.

Daniel Lewis, CEO of Awen Collective, said: “As a small start-up company, the funding and support from the Ministry of Defence will help us to rapidly gear-up and provide innovative, valuable and proven industrial cyber security software to the various parts of the MoD, reducing the possible disruption to military capability caused by large scale or targeted cyber-attacks.”

The project started in November and is expected to run for 12 months, with the MoD reviewing the project at the end of the time period.

Awen will receive help throughout the project from consultancy firm BAR Associates.

Robin King, CEO of BAR Associates, said the company is “delighted to have helped Awen to secure this project and are excited to be able to support the acceleration of their innovation into the defence sector”.
