Four players at Treowen Stars Girls Football Club have been chosen to represent the Under 15s Girls and Boys clubs of Wales football team in a Home Nations tournament in Scotland.

The tournament will take place in August.

Strikers Caitlin Seabourne and Ashleigh Buckwell, will be joined in the squad by Treowen’s Ellie Jones, midfielder Cerys Barham and defender Emily Buckwell.

Meanwhile, winger Menna Churcher, from Blackwood, has also been selected for the squad.

The girls will all get a Welsh cap after the tournament.

Caitlin, who has also represented Wales in athletics, won at the Junior Welsh Indoor Championships in Cardiff on February 2.

Currently 13th in the UK rankings for her age group at shot put, Caitlin competed at the English Indoor Championships in Sheffield on February 22, before turning her attentions back to football.

Speaking of her Welsh call-up, Catilin said: “It’s quite exciting to be honest.

It’s been one of my dreams since I was little. I want to score lots of goals.

“We have training sessions over the next few weeks but I can’t wait to get started.

“My friends will be there with me and I’m looking forward to making new friends and helping the team.”

Caitlin’s mother, Claire Seabourne, said the girls will have lots of support from family and friends while competing in Scotland.

Ms Seabourne said: “The girls are hoping to win it, so fingers crossed.

“Caitlin’s extremely excited to get a Welsh honour and show off her skills.

“The women’s game is getting stronger, and as a sports development officer and a parent, it’s good to see.”
