Markham’s Gerwyn Price was eliminated from the inaugural Home Tour darts series at the first round stage on Saturday evening (April 18).

The tournament, which has been organised by the Professional Darts Corporation, sees tour card holders compete from the comfort of their own homes, and provides darts fans with 32 consecutive nights of action during the coronavirus lockdown.

A total of 128 players take to the oche in the first round, with the 32 group winners advancing to the round two.

Price, the current world number three, finished second in Group Two, with England’s Luke Woodhouse topping the table to progress to the second round.

The 35-year-old got off to a positive start as he averaged 97 in beating Austria’s Rowby-John Rodriguez 5-2 in the opening game of the night.

In his next game against Woodhouse, however, he was unable to replicate his form as he was comprehensively beaten by the 31-year-old Englishman, who hit a memorable nine-dart finish on his way to a 5-0 victory.

The reigning back-to-back Grand Slam champion was much improved in his final game of the night against Ted Evetts, as he averaged 102.1 to record a 5-2 success and ensure a second placed finish.

The Iceman took out an eye-catching 130 checkout to seal the win, with Evetts finishing third and Rodriguez fourth having failed to win any of his three matches.

Hope you all enjoyed last night #dartsathome was different playing in my slippers ? well done to the @OfficialPDC for all the hard work that they are doing and of course @lukewoody180 for a perfect 9 dart leg ?? and to the rest of the players @SuperTed180 @littlejohn180 thanks
