A Grade II listed bridge has been reopened after it was damaged during the Storm Dennis floods, which hit Caerphilly County Borough in February.

Ochrwyth Bridge, which goes over the River Ebbw in Pontymister, was closed on February 16 after a tree trunk punched through the side of the bridge while water levels in the river were high.

Scaffolding was put up around the bridge towards the end of March to allow council contractors to work on repairs.

The scaffolding was removed and the bridge was reopened on April 8, with temporary surfacing over the area that was damaged.

Caerphilly County Borough Council has said the surfacing will be “reinstated when current circumstances allow”.
