A pharmaceutical company with a manufacturing site in Tir y Berth has donated personal protective equipment (PPE) to frontline council staff.
Norgine has donated two large pallets of PPE to Caerphilly County Borough Council for frontline staff as they work through the coronavirus pandemic.
The PPE donated by Norgine include gowns, face masks and sleeve protectors.
Scott Daniel, of Norgine, said the company is “very pleased to be able to provide much needed PPE to the frontline staff in the local area”.
Mr Daniel added: “Hopefully this donation will help Caerphilly County Borough Council to maintain the important services for key individuals needing support in the community we are proud to be a part of.”
The company manufactures more than 30 million medicine packs a year from its Tir y Berth site, which help people across the globe living with constipation and support the diagnosis and prevention of serious gastro-intestinal diseases such as colorectal cancer.
The council’s deputy leader, Cllr Sean Morgan, said: “Like many other councils in Wales, national shortages have created some difficulties for us when sourcing suitable PPE.
“We are extremely grateful to Norgine for this generous donation that will help ensure we have sufficient supplies of equipment to protect frontline staff and offer reassurance to residents when delivering key services, including providing essential care for some of our most vulnerable residents.”
