Hospitality sector to open in Wales from July 13

Beer gardens could reopen in Wales on Monday, July 13.

The first phase of reopening Wales’s hospitality sector could see bars, restaurants and cafés with outdoor spaces opening from July 13.

The move is dependent on transmission of Covid-19 continuing to fall and a final decision will be made at the Welsh Government’s next review of coronavirus regulations on Thursday, July 9.

If the plans are given the go ahead, pubs, restaurants and cafes will be able to use outdoor spaces like beer gardens to accommodate customers.

Businesses will be advised to reduce the risk of transmission by introducing measures such as pre-booking, table service and the use of apps.

The Welsh Government confirmed the reopening of indoor venues will be considered at the next phase of reviews, depending on the success of outdoor opening.

There is no suggestion the Welsh Government intends to drop its social distancing guidance from two metres to one, as seen in England.

Many businesses in the hospitality sector have said reducing the distance is vital to them being profitable when they reopen.

What a waste of time, most places won’t be able to open with the social distance measures in place, and no outdoor facilities available. May as well kept it as it is, the only country in the UK with no dates for indoor venues to open, it’s a disgrace.
